Jimmy Lai is the billionaire owner of Hong Kong’s last opposition newspaper, Apple Day-to-day, and an outspoken critic of Beijing.
On Friday he used to be sentenced to 14 months in penal advanced for unauthorised meeting – for taking part in two protests in 2019.
